Apple picking in the Warsaw area
How about a tour of an apple juice press plant and apple orchards?
Such tours are offered by the Nasza Tłocznia press plant, located 45 km south of Warsaw. The plant was created based on a family orchard farm, where apple trees had been grown for generations, in the heart of the Polish orchard farming area – here, the first apple trees were grown over 400 years ago.
Tours are dedicated to kindergartens, schools, organized groups, and individuals (April-November). An English language option is available. Attractions include:
- An educational walk among apple trees. You will explore an organic apple orchard and learn more about fruit development, ripening, and harvesting.
- Apple picking.
- Pressing apple juice. You will see how fresh juice is pressed from the fruit you pick yourself.
- Tasting. You will try freshly pressed juice from different apple varieties, including those suitable for people with allergies.
- Pickup truck ride. A ride between orchards in an original 1974 vehicle.
- Bonfire with roasting apples and sausages. You can enjoy a moment by the campfire, roasting apples you have picked yourself. The option of a guided tour with meals is also available.
- Attractions for children. Trampoline, table tennis, tug of war, skill games, Baba Yaga’s house, and lots of space to play.
Individual visits to the orchard are also possible, for example, for families:
- Orchard tour fee: PLN 25 per person. Children under four are admitted free of charge.
- Opening hours: Monday – Friday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Saturday: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
- No appointment is required for individual tours.
- Visitors receive a map of the facility, which they follow from one information point to the next. Information points are located throughout Nasza Tłocznia (in Polish and English). You can learn about orchard work, fruit production, and harvesting. The entire recreational area is at your disposal, including a trampoline for children, camping tables with umbrellas, a swing, and other attractions. You can spend time outdoors, picnic, enjoy lunch among the apple trees, or visit the company store. The individual tour does not include the production hall or the juice pressing demonstration.

The season for apple picking in Poland usually lasts from the end of August until mid-October. You must usually contact a selected orchard/garden/farm to book a slot.
Pumpkin farms & pumpkin fests in the Warsaw area
Please note that most pumpkin farms and pumpkin festivals take place in Warsaw in October. However, you can already find some pumpkin spots in Warsaw in September.
Pumpkin farm ‘Dyniolandia’ in northwestern Warsaw

- The Festival takes place in September/October at a cafe in Wilanów.

Autumn day trips from Warsaw
- A corn maze 40 km from Warsaw
A corn maze, called in Polish Labirynt Królowej Bony (Queen Bona’s Labyrinth). It is located 40 km south of Warsaw in the town of Czersk, close to the Vistula River and medieval castle ruins (click here to read our tips on visiting medieval castle ruins in Czersk).
- The labyrinth is open (weather permitting) from mid-July to October.
- Location: Labirynt Królowej Bony, ul. Sadowa 1, 05-530 Czersk, location on Google Maps.
- Opening hours: Saturday and Sunday, 11 am – 8 pm.
- The maze is closed in bad weather, so it’s worth checking their Facebook page.
- Visitors are given a map of the corn maze, and their task is to get the stamps, which are spread out in different parts of the maze. If you collect all the stamps, there is a reward for the kids: a medal or a corn snack.
- In the maze, there are characters from Queen Bona’s family, and monsters lurk. In the middle of the labyrinth, you can look into the “well of knowledge” made up of many books.
- Apart from the corn maze, other attractions include swings, a mini climbing wall, an archery board (with the royal family that needs to be defended from monsters), a trampoline, a sandbox, a beach volleyball court, and a place for a bonfire.

- A beautiful heather area & photo spot – Heathland Mostówka/Wrzosowisko Mostówka, 50 km from Warsaw
Heathers in Poland begin to bloom at the turn of August and September. It is worth hurrying – we have time more or less until mid-September.
Where to see heather in bloom around Warsaw? One of the popular outdoor photoshoot locations – Wrzosowisko Mostówka (heather in Polish – wrzos, the Polish name of September (wrzesień) comes from the heathers).
Wrzosowisko Mostówka is open to everyone heather field, located 50 km from Warsaw, 40 minutes drive north-east of Warsaw, in the direction of Wyszków / Białystok.
- The most convenient way to get there is by car (Wrzosowisko Mostówka’s location on Google map). You can leave your car along Kolejowa Street and walk for a few minutes along the train tracks to the north, towards the village of Lucynów.
- If you are going with small children, it is better to take a baby carrier than a stroller – there are a lot of sandy trails.
- A maze and play area, “Labirynt pod Warszawą”, 30 km from Warsaw
“Labirynt pod Warszawą” is a maze and play area located in the town of Milanówek, 30 km from Warsaw. The Labyrinth is a small family amusement park with a cozy atmosphere. - Kampinos Forest near Warsaw: 350 km of hiking trails
The Kampinos Forest (Puszcza Kampinoska) is next to Warsaw’s northwestern border. Most of its area is protected within the Kampinoski National Park (Kampinoski Park Narodowy). This is unique globally – the national park borders the state’s capital!
Visitors can enjoy 350 km of hiking trails, a 200 km long bicycle trail, horse trails, 10 educational paths, 19 parking lots, and 12 rest areas on the park’s edge.

A new indoor attraction in Warsaw – a miniature model of Warsaw
Location: Kolejkowo, Warsaw Towers, Sienna 39 Street (city center). Open daily, including public holidays. The name Kolejkowo comes from the Polish word kolej, meaning rail. It’s an engaging attraction for both adults and children. Kolejkowo presents a unique small-scale model of Warsaw’s selected places featuring hundreds of models (railways, cars, buildings, bridges) and thousands of figures of people and animals. A new bilingual (Polish & English) exhibition in Warsaw’s Railway Museum, dedicated to children aged 6-12, “How does the railway work?”
Location: Stacja Muzeum, Warsaw’s Wola district, Towarowa 3 Street. Regular ticket: 25 PLN, reduced ticket: 16 PLN, family ticket: 75 PLN. Free entrance every Monday and for children up to 7 years old. Opening hours: 9 am – 5 pm daily. Thanks to multimedia devices, children can discover how steam engines, electric engines, combustion engines, and water towers work and even drive a train themselves. The museum is housed in the former railway station. In addition to the newly opened children’s exhibition hall, the Museum houses other railway exhibitions inside and outside trains and locomotives. Visiting the Museum with a guide in Polish (180 PLN), English, or Russian (250 PLN) is possible. The tour lasts about 60 minutes. Planetarium in Copernicus Science Center
Location: the Planetarium building next to Copernicus Science Center, Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie 20 Street (Powiśle). The Warsaw Planetarium is one of the most modern planetariums in Europe (opened in 2011, renovated in 2025). It’s located in the center of Warsaw, on the Vistula River boulevard, next to the Copernicus Science Center. The Planetarium screens films for kids aged 3+, teenagers, and adults. It’s an unforgettable experience for adults and children! All screenings can be viewed in the English audio version with headphones (and some in Ukrainian or Russian). A gondola, canoes, and wooden rowing boats in the Park of the King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów (Wilanowskie Lake/Jezioro Wilanowskie)
Until October 5. Location: the park of Wilanów Palace, Stanisława Kostki Potockiego 10/16 Street (first, you need to buy an entrance ticket to the park). The rental is located next to the Pompownia building in the park, a pumping station at the Jezioro Wilanowskie Lake (location on Google Maps). Opening hours: April 28 – August 31: 10 am – 8.30 pm, September 1–28: 10 am – 6.30 pm, September 29 – October 5: 10 am – 5.30 pm (last rental one hour before closing). There are available life vests, wooden boats (for four adults or two adults and three children), and kayaks (for two adults with an additional child seat). 30-minute gondola rides on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12 pm, and Fridays from 4 pm. You can also rent a gondola exclusively for a group of up to 10 people (perfect for birthdays, social gatherings, or photo sessions). Horse Racing at Tor Służewiec Racetrack
Selected weekends. Location: Tor Wyścigów Konnych Służewiec, Puławska 266 Street (Ursynów), online tickets (visitors up to 18 years old free entrance). The Służewiec Horse Racetrack is not only a horse race but also an essential monument in Warsaw – the track was opened in June 1939, and it was the most modern and largest horse racing track in Europe. Of course, you don’t have to play sports betting if you don’t want to. It’s fun to watch the horses (sometimes you can even get up close), the children can play on the playground, you can eat something, and the race area itself is a vast green space! It is also worth paying attention to the kilometer-long wall separating the area of the Racing Track from Puławska Street, which has become a street gallery of Polish graffiti artists. Horse racing in Warsaw occurs almost every weekend, from April to mid-November. How to get there? By car, through the main gate at Puławska Street, where there is a large parking lot. High ropes courses are a series of challenging obstacles situated in trees that you cross one by one – you move across obstacles, platforms, and bridges constructed in trees. You are attached to a rope, and a belay keeps you safe.

Weather in Poland in September
September marks the end of summer in Poland. Technically, the summer lasts until September 23, but September in Poland is considered an autumn month. After all, it’s the month with the first day of school at Polish schools (in 2025: Monday, September 1).
The average temperature in September in Poland is 14°C / 57°F (just like in May). The average rainfall level in September in Poland is 53 mm (for comparison, July has the highest average rainfall in Poland: 89 mm, and February has the lowest: 31 mm).
For many, September is their favorite month in Poland – neither too cold nor too hot and ideal for walking and admiring the fall foliage. Regarding nature, September in Poland is rich in colors, nutritious seasonal vegetables, and fruits. As a bridge from summer to autumn, September gives a slow time for plants, animals, and people to adjust and prepare for the harsh and demanding wintertime in Poland. This time in Poland is called poetically ‘Polish Golden Autumn‘ (Polska Złota Jesień). Nature in September will delight you with a unique palette of intense colors.

The event includes short formal ceremonies (it’s not a regular full school day, so parents of small children may need to take a day off). The school year in Poland is divided into two terms: the winter term (pierwszy semestr) and the summer term (drugi semestr). While the first and last school days are the same for Poland, the winter break (ferie zimowe) times differ for each Polish province/voivodship.
