Polish school holidays: the first day of school in Poland and the last day of school in Poland

The school year in Poland is divided into two terms: the first/winter term (pierwszy semestr) and the second/summer term (drugi semestr). While the first and last school days are the same for Poland, the winter break (ferie zimowe) times differ for each Polish province/voivodeship.

2026: the first day of a new school year is Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

2027: The last school day in Poland in 2027 is Friday, June 25; the first day of a new school year is Wednesday, September 1, 2027.

Additional days off in Polish schools

This is a list of additional days off for all public schools in Poland (apart from these breaks, heads of individual schools may also designate a few days off individually for a given school; such short breaks are most often around public holidays, e.g. November 1, November 11, May 1, May 3).

  • December 23-31, 2026
  • March 25-30, 2027

  • 2026: June 27 – August 31 (the last school day in Poland in 2026: Friday, June 26).
  • 2027: June 26 – August 31 (the last school day in Poland in 2027: Friday, June 25).

Winter school break in Poland: 2027 & 2028

The winter break (ferie zimowe) times differ for each Polish province/voivodeship each year.

  • January 18-31, 2027

The following voivodeships: podkarpackie (Subcarpathian – Rzeszów), podlaskie (Białystok), dolnośląskie (Lower Silesian – Wrocław), łódzkie (Łódź), śląskie (Silesian – Katowice), opolskie (Opole).

  • February 1-14, 2027

The following voivodeships: mazowieckie (Masovian – Warsaw), pomorskie (Pomeranian – Gdańsk), świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross – Kielce), lubelskie (Lublin).

  • February 15-28, 2027

The following voivodeships: lubuskie (Lubusz – Gorzów Wielkopolski & Zielona Góra), kujawsko-pomorskie (Kuyavian-Pomeranian – Toruń & Bydgoszcz), warmińsko-mazurskie (Warmian-Masurian – Olsztyn), wielkopolskie (Greater Poland – Poznań), zachodniopomorskie (West Pomeranian – Szczecin), małopolskie (Lesser Poland – Kraków).

The following voivodships: podlaskie (Białystok), kujawsko-pomorskie (Kuyavian-Pomeranian – Toruń & Bydgoszcz), świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross – Kielce), wielkopolskie (Greater Poland – Poznań), zachodniopomorskie (West Pomeranian – Szczecin), lubuskie (Lubusz – Gorzów Wielkopolski & Zielona Góra), pomorskie (Pomeranian – Gdańsk).

  • January 31 – February 13, 2028

The following voivodships: mazowieckie (Masovian – Warsaw), warmińsko-mazurskie (Warmian-Masurian – Olsztyn), łódzkie (Łódź), podkarpackie (Subcarpathian – Rzeszów).

  • February 14 – 27, 2028

The following voivodships: opolskie (Opole), lubelskie (Lublin), śląskie (Silesian – Katowice), dolnośląskie (Lower Silesian – Wrocław), małopolskie (Lesser Poland – Kraków).
