“The Royal Garden of Light” – illuminations festival in Warsaw – Wilanów Garden

“The Royal Garden of Light” (Królewski Ogród Światła) is Warsaw’s must-see sight in autumn and winter evenings and both adults and children will love it. It’s located in the gardens of a baroque royal palace called the “Polish Versailles”, in the Wilanów district of Warsaw. The Wilanów festival is a unique open-air exhibition with thousands of diodes forming tunnels, trees, installations, and sculptures. The illuminations are accompanied by classical music and mappings on the palace façade (3D shows featuring sounds, images, and lights).

In the season 2022/2023 – new installations and decorations!

  • 2022/2023 season: October 8, 2022 – February 26, 2023.
  • Opening hours: 
    • October 8 – 31, 2022: 5 pm – 9 pm (last entry 8.30 pm)
    • November 2, 2022 – February 26, 2023: 4 pm – 9 pm (last entry 8.30 pm)
  • “The Royal Garden of Light” is CLOSED in 2022 on October 13, November 1, December 24, and December 31.
  • “The Royal Garden of Light” is OPEN on the following bank holidays: November 11, December 25, December 26, January 1, and January 6.
  • Mappings (illumination, picture, and sound) on the Palace façade on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. October: 6 pm, 6.30 pm, 7 pm, 7.30 pm, 8.30 pm. November 2 – January 31: 5.30 pm, 6.30 pm, 7 pm, 7.30 pm, 8.30 pm. Until February 26: 6 pm, 6.30 pm, 7 pm, 7.30 pm, 8.30 pm. One show lasts approx. 15 minutes.
  • Additional mappings: November 11, December 6, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, January 1, January 6, February 14.
  • There is an entry limit per hour. When buying a ticket, you must indicate the time slot for ENTRY to the Royal Garden of Light. You can stay at the exhibition site as long as you like.
  • Tickets Monday – Thursday: regular tickets 20 PLN, reduced tickets 10 PLN.
  • Tickets Friday, Saturday, Sunday, holidays: regular tickets 40 PLN, reduced tickets 20 PLN.
  • Reduced tickets for students, seniors 65+, disabled people.
  • Free admission for children under 7 (every day).
  • Ticket offices are open only 9 am – 3 pm. During the exhibition, the ticket offices are closed – tickets can be purchased at a ticket machine or online.
  • Please note that during weekends “The Royal Garden of Light” attracts many visitors – it can be crowded and finding a free parking spot is very difficult – it’s recommended to use public transport or a taxi during weekends.
  • The Palace is located in the Wilanów district of Warsaw, the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace (Muzeum Pałacu Króla Jana III w Wilanowie), Stanisława Kostki Potockiego 10/16 Street (location on Google map).
  • By car: It is not always easy to find a free parking spot. There are two PAID parking lots: public parking at ul. Stanisława Kostki Potockiego 31 (open daily) and the museum car park at ul. Stanisława Kostki Potockiego 6A, entry from Vogla Street (open daily).
  • By bus: 116, 130, 139, 163, 164, 180, 200, 251, 264, 317, 339, 519, E-2.

About the Palace and Park in Wilanów 

The Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów in Warsaw is a baroque summer residence of King Jan III Sobieski and his wife, Queen Maria Kazimiera. The Museum offers plenty of events IN ENGLISH – weekend guided tours in the Palace, monthly Saturday nature tours of the royal gardens, and dozens of workshops for the groups of adults or children (royal cuisine cooking workshops, observing animals with binoculars, court dancing, calligraphy, and more). The area next to the Wilanów Palace is 45 hectares! You will find there not only modeled palace gardens in the baroque style, but also a river and a huge landscape park.

  • It’s recommended to buy tickets online.
  • The ticket area of the park begins in the courtyard (it used to be free).

Rental of canoes and wooden boats in the park of Wilanów Palace in spring/summer/autumn

  • Location: the park of Wilanów Palace, Stanisława Kostki Potockiego 10/16 Street (first you need to buy an entrance ticket to the park)
  • Opening hours weekdays: 10 am – 6 pm, weekends: 10 am – 8 pm
  • The rental is located next to Pompownia building – a pumping station at the Jezioro Wilanowskie Lake.
  • There are available life vests, wooden boats (for 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 children; 30 min – 40 PLN, 1 hour 60 PLN, 2 hours 100 PLN) and kayaks (for 2 adults with an additional child seat; 30 min – 20 PLN, 1 hour – 30 PLN, 2 hours – 50 PLN)
  • You can pay with a card
