Fryderyk Chopin’s birthplace is in the village of Żelazowa Wola, in central Poland, 50 km west of Warsaw. The small house where Chopin was born is located in a beautiful park. There is a permanent exhibition in the house to tour and a temporary exhibition in the pavilion with the ticket office.

Summer weekend piano recitals of Chopin music

  • May – September
  • One-hour concerts on Saturday and Sundays: 12 pm and 3 pm

How to get there?

  • The museum is located 50 km from Warsaw, 100 km from Łódź, next to the town of Sochaczew
  • By car: It takes about 1 hour from Warsaw, depending on the traffic. The paid parking lot is across the street

Opening hours

  • The Museum is open every day, except for selected public holidays (Mueum’s website in English with info about when the Museum is closed and current, depending on the season, opening hours)

  • Family tickets (parents/guardians with children under 18 years old, max 6 people) are available
  • Free admission: children up to the age of 7
  • Free admission: Monday

  • The audio guides (in 7 languages) can be borrowed in the main hall next to the ticket office
  • As part of the admission ticket, visitors have the opportunity to take part in a guided tour in Polish on Saturdays and Sundays at 10 am, 12.30 pm, 3 pm.   • Cost of a commissioned guided tour: Polish language: PLN 210, English: PLN 250 (plus an adequate ticket for each participant)

Other information

  • There is a museum store where you can buy some souvenirs and a cafe
  • Żelazowa Wola is located on the edge of the Kampinos National Park. Visiting the Museum of Chopin’s birthplace can be combined with a walk in the Kampinos National Park, offering 350 km of hiking trails. Our post about hiking in the Kampinos Forest.
