About Akademeia High School

Akademeia High School is an academically-selective international school in Warsaw, offering iGCSEs and A Levels and preparing students for the best universities in the world. Akademeia believes that a good university experience starts in school, which is why it looks, feels, and operates like a university.

The admissions process begins with the academic potential assessment, which was created with the aim of uncovering the academic knowledge and talents held by each student. Akademeia focuses on developing both students’ academic abilities and their artistic, athletic, and leadership potential. The school supports exceptionally capable students with academic and artistic scholarships. It also offers a boarding house.

The school is located in a purpose-built site in Wilanów in 2017. All classes are conducted exclusively in English. Akademeia is an accredited UCAS center, Cambridge International, Edexcel (Pearson) and AQA examination center for the English GCE Advanced Levels which form the curriculum in the last two years. Akademeia has also prepared a special intensive SAT/ACT exam course for students who are interested in applying to American universities.

“Each of us has a specific set of characteristics, interests and skills that, when taken together, represent our personal potential. Studying the subjects that match our skills, passions and predispositions is the best way to fulfil that potential. We believe that every student has a ‘strong side’, and that school should be a place where these talents can be discovered, developed and utilized. We know how to direct students down the educational path that is most appropriate for them.“

Language of instruction:

  • All classes are conducted exclusively in English

Admission process:

During the various stages of recruitment, we aim to learn as much as possible about the skills and aptitudes of the student. Parents meet individually with an admissions officer to learn more about how the school functions, the requirements of the academic programme, the school’s teaching philosophy and the later stages of the recruiting process. The decision about whether to take part in those later stages is made after this meeting with the admissions tutor. However, this meeting is not mandatory.

  • The unique recruitment process at Akademeia includes 3 stages:
    • Stage 1: Recruitment weekends (25th – 26th January 2020, 29th February – 1st March 2020, 21st – 22nd March 2019, 11th – 12th May 2019). The recruitment process lasts for two days and is conducted over the course of a single weekend. It includes: university lectures in English supplemented with tests to check the students’ abilities to learn and understand new content, analytical thinking, ability to draw conclusions, and ability to compare data; an English Language competence testing; individual meetings with subject teachers, who check not only a student’s knowledge but also, more importantly, their predisposition; group tasks, which check soft skills and social abilities; and a Mathematics test.
    • All meetings are conducted exclusively by Akademeia’s own teachers.
    • The cost of participation in the recruitment weekend is 2 000 PLN.
  • Stage 2: At the end of the process, the parents and the student receive a tailored report to be discussed at an individual meeting. The report outlines recommendations for the student’s educational path, based upon the student’s optimal learning style, needs and predispositions, as well as guidance for further development.
  • Stage 3: Decisions regarding admissions are based on the final report.
  • The recruitment process is designed for students aged 14-16

“Akademeia High School is a high school for young people with ambition. We operate under the philosophy that school should be a place where students can develop their academic interests, broaden their horizons and receive an education at the highest level to prepare themselves for admission to the top universities around the world. But that is not all. Those who demonstrate artistic or musical talent, dedicated athletes, aspiring young actors and filmmakers will find a space with us to pursue their passions. “Architecture should stimulate, inspire and give students the feeling of being in an important and unique place. We want our school to be a place where students don’t want to leave. In September 2017 we moved to the new building. Together with the Medusa Group, an award-winning architectural office, we constructed the most modern school building in Poland.”
