Polish school holidays: the first day of school in Poland and the last day of school in Poland

The school year in Poland is divided into two terms: the first/winter term (pierwszy semestr) and the second/summer term (drugi semestr). While the first and last school days are the same for Poland, the winter break (ferie zimowe) times differ for each Polish province/voivodeship.

2025: The last school day in Poland in 2025 is Friday, June 27; the first day of a new school year is Monday, September 1, 2025.

2026: The last school day in Poland in 2026 is Friday, June 26; the first day of a new school year is Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Additional days off in Polish schools

This is a list of additional days off for all public schools in Poland (apart from these breaks, heads of individual schools may also designate a few days off individually for a given school; such short breaks are most often around public holidays, e.g. November 1, November 11, May 1, May 3).

  • December 22-31, 2025
  • April 2-7, 2026

  • 2025: June 28 – August 31 (the last school day in Poland in 2025: Friday, June 27).
  • 2026: June 27 – August 31 (the last school day in Poland in 2026: Friday, June 26).

Winter school break in Poland: 2026

The dates of the winter school break in Poland in 2026

The winter break (ferie zimowe) times differ for each Polish province/voivodeship each year.

  • January 19 – February 1, 2026

The following voivodships: mazowieckie (Masovian – Warsaw), pomorskie (Pomeranian – Gdańsk), podlaskie (Białystok), świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross – Kielce), warmińsko-mazurskie (Warmian-Masurian – Olsztyn).

  • February 2 – 15, 2026

The following voivodships: dolnośląskie (Lower Silesian – Wrocław), kujawsko-pomorskie (Kuyavian-Pomeranian – Toruń & Bydgoszcz), łódzkie (Łódź), zachodniopomorskie (West Pomeranian – Szczecin), małopolskie (Lesser Poland – Kraków), opolskie (Opole).

  • February 16 – March 1, 2026

The following voivodships: podkarpackie (Subcarpathian – Rzeszów), lubelskie (Lublin), wielkopolskie (Greater Poland – Poznań), lubuskie (Lubusz – Gorzów Wielkopolski & Zielona Góra), śląskie (Silesian – Katowice).
