Children’s Day 
Children receive gifts. Schools and daycares host special events for kids – picnics, concerts, sports competitions, etc. There are many events in Warsaw and other cities (hold also on a weekend next to June 1) organized by the city authorities, institutions, theaters, restaurants.

Warsaw Comic Con
Many national and international guests from areas like comics, movies, cosplay, TV. Star Wars zone, Lego zone, kids zone, Game of Thrones zone, and much more. Orange Warsaw Festival

21st Science Picnic (Piknik Naukowy)
A huge outdoor event promoting science, organized by the Polish Radio and the Copernicus Science Centre in cooperation with universities, research institutes, museums, cultural institutions. They present the behind-the-scenes aspects of their everyday work through experiments, demonstrations and interactive exhibits. Location: Stadion Narodowy / National Stadium. Shell V-Power Show 
Event with Ferrari Team & Kimi Räikkönen. Location: Stadion Narodowy / National Stadium (Praga), free entrance, 10 am. Many attractions for kids – Formula 1 show car, robotics zone, firefighting shows, and ice cream. Click here to read more in Polish.

Whit Sunday / Pentecost
Bank holiday (always on Sunday anyway). The Day of Descent of the Holy Spirit – Zielone Świątki (Green Holidays). In Poland, some people decorate their homes with branches with green leaves. Stores, malls, shopping centers closed, only some smaller local convenience stores can be open (eg. Żabka). You can do basic shopping at gas stations.

17th International Mime Art Festival

27th Mozart Festival in Warsaw
Performances and concerts will take place in the Royal Castle, Łazienki Park Royal Theatre, and Warsaw Chamber Opera, open air concerts at Plac Defilad (Palace of Culture square). Click here to read more in Polish.

Corpus Christi (Boże Ciało)
Bank holiday (always a Thursday). The Catholic church organizes in each parish huge outdoor procession (in many places in Poland traffic is stopped during the procession). The procession stops at four altars temporary built on the streets. The altars are decorated with birch-tree twigs which can be later taken home and are kept the whole year to protect a family. Girls dressed in white scatter flower petals. Stores, malls, shopping centers closed, only some smaller local convenience stores can be open (e.g. Żabka). You can do basic shopping at gas stations. June 15 starts another so-called długi weekend in Poland (long weekend) – please note that Friday, June 16 is a regular working day, however, many schools are closed and people usually take a day off. People go out for a short vacation. Warsaw is usually empty and quiet while Polish seaside, Zakopane, and other major touristic destinations get crowded.

Gelato Festival
Event for all ice cream lovers – a competition that recognizes the best Italian and foreign ice cream masters. Location: Torwar. Click here to read more in English.

  • June 23

St. John’s Night / Wreaths (Noc Świętojańska / Wianki)
The holiday has a pagan background (a pagan name is Sobótka meaning fire). Nowadays, it is mostly the opportunity to celebrate midsummer with various festivities, including concerts, singing songs, bonfire jumping. Women wear wildflower wreaths that later are thrown into river or pond.

Father’s Day
It’s not as loudly celebrated as Mother’s Day, however, each mother makes sure that children at least hug their father;)

End of the School Year
The last day of the school year is celebrated with speeches, concerts, shows. Teachers get flowers. Parents of younger kids usually take a day or few hours off to participate in the ceremonies. The school year will resume on September 4.

Big Book Festival
International reading festival. The festival of books and reading, including events in English. Many meetings, workshops, and games, eg. setting the world record in a number of people reading together in open-air. Location: Emilii Plater 31 Street (city center). Click here to read more in English.

Wianki nad Wisłą (Wreaths)
One of the biggest free outdoor events in Warsaw (location: Podzamcze) – family picnic with many attractions and evening concerts. Click here for Facebook event (in Polish & English).

International Theater School Festival 
The Festival program includes not only final degree shows of Theater Schools, but also numerous associated events, such as Off Festival shows, meetings with theater and cinema celebrities, as well as theater workshop dedicated to both, professionals and amateurs. Chopin music Sunday recitals

Chopin music weekend recitals

Free summer concerts by Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra
