Summer 2022

About Summer School with American School of Warsaw (ASW)

American School of Warsaw offers Summer Program for children from ASW as well as other schools. The Program includes a Tech Camp (Robotics, Coding, 3D Modeling) for children aged 10-16.

Tech Camp: Robotics, Coding, 3D Modeling

  • When: June 27 – July 1, 2022.
  • Monday to Friday, 9 am – 3.50 pm. After camp child care is available from 15:50 to 17:30 for an additional fee of PLN 150 per week. This will include a safe venue for children to play games, talk, listen to music under ASW summer camp staff supervision.
  • Age: children aged 10-16.
  • Cost: 1850 PLN per week.
  • Location: American School of Warsaw (ASW), located in a 25-acre multi-school complex to the south of Warsaw, easily accessible via car or Warsaw’s public transportation system. Private transportation is also available upon request. View ASW’s location here.
  • It’s a fun way to spend a week or two in the summer at ASW where children will learn coding, robotics, electronics, and 3D modeling, and build things in a fun and hands-on STEM experience of technical design. Students will build confidence in creating with the skills they will learn and grow their knowledge and learn about what it means to be engineers and designers. The program’s curriculum will be based on a series of successive projects which students will build on prior knowledge. This series includes a programmed sumobot project, manufacturing simulations, the most recent theme-based challenge of First Lego League, and finally, as time permits, a practical application of the Adafruit Circuit Playground Bluefruit or Arduino. To engage students in problem solving, projects will involve coding, basic electronics, building circuits, and Autodesk’s Fusion 360 computer aided design program. Students will be using the Lego Education EV3 platform or coding in microPython (or visual coding based on student preference). MicroPython is an implementation of the Python 3* programming language optimized to run on microcontrollers. Students will be able to make things that will both amaze them and teach them important life lessons through designing and tinkering to practice communication and problem solving skills. At the end of each week students will test their solutions in friendly competitions.
  • Each day will typically begin with lessons on coding, electronics and/or mechanisms. Students will then break out and solve coding and/or building challenges. In the afternoon, they will have build time, when they will apply what they have learned.
  • Activities offered during the camp include swimming, basketball, soccer, softball, athletics, outdoor games, water games, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, computer activities, cooking, arts & crafts, gymnastics, dance, karaoke.
  • Lunch is not provided. Lunch and snacks are available for purchase in the cafeteria. Food must be ordered online, directly from the cafeteria. If you do not have an account with Solivoda, please contact them: asw@solivoda.com. The deadline for ordering food is 10.30 am each day.
