Kids in the City presents 3 ideas for a bad weather day in Warsaw with your family
Fall and winter weekends in Poland (almost half of the year with unpredictable weather!) require from parents considerable creativity. In 2018, there are 114 days of bank holidays and weekends in Poland, of which 57 from October till March when it is really difficult to plan any outdoor activity with kids. Obviously, you could go to the indoor playground or swimming pool. But sooner or later any parent would be out of ideas – and no wonder when you need to think about up to 57 days of unpredictable weather. We all know, you can’t stay at home with kids for long – with their inexhaustible, self-recharging energy. When all the Lego bricks, books, Play-Doh, and 300 puzzle pieces are on the floor, and your kid still wails “I’m bored! I’m bored! I’m bored!”, it’s time to move and change the scenery.
When it’s raining or freezing, it’s too hot to stay outside or it’s already dark outside (which happens in Poland during wintertime even at 4 pm!), jump in the car and drive to the museum or gallery. Kids in the City recommends 3 ideas for a bad weather day in Warsaw with kids: The Center for Contemporary Art – Ujazdowski Castle, the Polin Museum – the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, and the National Museum.
The Center for Contemporary Art – Ujazdowski Castle
Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej (CSW) – Zamek Ujazdowski
The biggest gallery of contemporary art in Warsaw located in the castle (the building was reconstructed to look like in the seventeenth and eighteenth century). A perfect combination where old building architecture meets modern art.
The Polin Museum – the Museum of the History of Polish Jews
Polin – Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich
If you want to understand Poland, you need to learn about the history of Polish Jews. And the Polin museum is the perfect place for this lesson. It definitely should be on your Warsaw bucket list.
The National Museum in Warsaw
Muzeum Narodowe w Warszawie
It’s the biggest museum in Warsaw, a good hiding place from the rain. There are no famous masterpieces, but definitely, lots of art to enjoy your time with family.
