About LAB Learning and Being

“LAB Learning and Being” is a bilingual (English & Polish) daycare and micro-school located in Mokotów, dedicated to children aged 4-12. LAB provides a learning space where children can LEARN and BE themselves – education in small groups in a warm, home-like atmosphere. What is essential in LAB – parents are in close relationships with teachers, have constant contact, and participate in the life of the micro-school. The LAB team invites parents to contact them directly as they are providing individual solutions for each family.

“Observing how differently each child develops and grows and at the same time seeing a lack of individual approach in mainstream educational facilities, we decided to search for a better solution. We managed to bring together many professionals specialising in child development and some amazing artists, musicians, travellers – all: passionate individuals.

Believing that “it takes a village to raise a child” we decided to create our own “village” and we invite YOU to join. We are looking forward to meeting people who, just like us, believe in homeschooling but also wish to socialise.“

Afternoon Extra Classes:

  • Extra classes are dedicated to children aged 5-12 from other schools and homeschooled children.
  • Music and Rhythmics, Chess Club, Chinese, English.
  • Children aged 3.5 – 5 can join the afternoon activities of the preschool group: music, sports classes, sensory activities, and an hour of English-speaking in the Montessori class.

“LAB Learning and Being is a space created to support individual, very personalised learning. Taken from the best traditions of private tutoring, which used to be accessible only to the most wealthy, and in opposition to group learning, we provide care for families who, just like us, understand the balance between personalised learning and development, but also wish to provide a social experience for their children.“

Curriculum and mission:

  • LAB is created with an understanding of the changes in the modern world. They provide care with flexibility combining both the well-known and developed Montessori Method and their own Modern Curriculum. It is a second home where children can discover the world, but also be themselves.
  • Children learn in mixed-age groups, having an opportunity to support, model and teach each other.
  • Children’s needs are addressed with great respect and LAB’s teachers see the children holistically, caring both for their academic skills as well as psychological and physical development. LAB provides Social Skill Training for children as one of the scheduled classes.
  • LAB’s students develop their interests and passions through various activities and encounter with different enthusiasts.
  • Students spend as much time as possible surrounded by nature – through attending Forest School and all year-round care for the garden.
  • A very hands-on learning approach, focusing greatly on practical life skills. LAB teaches geography through cooking, mathematical skills (measuring, geometry) through woodwork projects, biology preferably takes place in the garden and language skills are practiced through written and spoken communication with others.
  • A rich arts program to encourage the art to be a natural form of self-expression for children. LAB puts great emphasis on Music specifically.
  • LAB ensures balanced physical development through gymnastics, various sports and classes focusing on Sensorial Integration.
  • LAB constantly cooperates with a child psychologist, pedagogue, SI coach, and speech therapist.

The age range of students:

  • Children aged 4-5,5: Preschool.
  • Children aged 5,5-7: Reception.
  • Children aged 7-12: Primary School.

Languages:

  • English and Polish.
  • LAB Learning and Being is a bilingual place where English is introduced as the language of communication in the Toddler Group. In the School Group, English is dominant, most classes are run in English. Polish is added to cover the Polish Curriculum. LAB introduces both the Polish and English curriculum using the Montessori Method.

Admission process:

  • Admissions are accepted throughout the year.
  • LAB Learning and Being has an open admission policy (subject to availability of places) and welcomes new students throughout the year.
  • Please contact LAB directly regarding tuition, availability, and extra classes, as they provide individual solutions for each family: office@lablearningandbeing.pl, +48 538 554 888.

“LAB – Learning and Being is a place where each child will be able to learn using their own unique potential. We offer an inspiring space, where children can peacefully learn and feel free to be themselves.”
