About British Primary School of Wilanow (BSW)

British Primary School of Wilanow is a young, dynamic and ambitious International Preschool and Primary School located in the heart of Warsaw’s fashionable Wilanow district. The School follows the English National Curriculum and offers a world-class, value-based education for internationally minded families seeking a nurturing and academically rigorous environment for children aged 3-14 (Nursery – Year 9). Patron’s Accredited Member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), an approved Cambridge Assessment International Education provider and part of International Schools Partnership (ISP).

At BSW, we take pride in our warm and welcoming community, where we foster a family atmosphere and allow for individualised approach and attention to each student. Renowned for our commitment to academic excellence, our school cultivates a culture of courage, nobility, respect, cooperation, and consideration.

Our primary goal is to shape students into better individuals, not only academically but also in their interactions with others and their understanding of the world. Through a reflective approach, we encourage our community to actively contribute to making our school, locality, and the world a better place.

Beyond the academic activities, we place great emphasis on the substantial value derived from a multitude of additional opportunities for curriculum enrichment. Sports, Music, Art and Drama are essential parts of students’ lives in BSW. These encompass a diverse range of activities, including lectures, workshops, trips, performances, as well as a variety of clubs, activities, and societies. We believe that these enrichment opportunities contribute significantly to the holistic development of our students, fostering a well-rounded educational experience.

Curriculum and educational offer:

  • BSW is regulated by both the British international and Polish authorities. BSW is the first school in Poland to be awarded compliant member status of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). COBIS evaluates the school in all aspects against rigorous UK and international standards. The school is registered as a preschool and primary school in Poland with the Polish Local Education Authorities (Kuratorium). BSW issues Polish Świadectwa (Diplomas) from Year 2 upwards. This allows BSW to provide the English National Curriculum to all their pupils with some minor additional obligations for Polish citizens

  • Pastoral Care: BSW believes that individual pupil comes first and is at heart of the school’s pastoral care systems and processes. BSW seeks to foster an environment where pupils are politely inquisitive, confident and proud of their school. Where relationships between staff and pupils in classrooms are consistently exceptionally strong. Where all staff know each pupil as an individual and where mutual respect is considered to be the cornerstone on which future success is built
  • Forest School: British Primary School of Wilanow hosts a comprehensive Forest School programme within the curriculum which supports pupils’ holistic development, encouraging pupils to be resilient, confident, independent, and creative. Forest School promotes a positive relationship between students and their natural environment, providing students the opportunity to learn in a less formal, solely child-initiated environment
  • Sports: The central aim is to develop in all pupils an interest in, and enthusiasm for physical activity nurturing their independence, self-confidence, leadership, and teamwork. All pupils in the school have two lessons of PE for their age group as well as further specialist lessons such as Gymnastics and Ballet. In Years 3-9 this is complemented by a Games afternoon. This takes place on Wednesday afternoons, and pupils are invited to choose between Football, Tennis, Swimming, Ballet, Crosscountry, Rounders, and Field Hockey

“We are passionate about excellent teaching in every classroom. We recruit teachers directly from the United Kingdom or from quality British International Schools. Our teachers provide a stimulating environment in the classroom that actively engages students and makes learning enjoyable and memorable.“

The age range of students:

  • Children aged 3-14

There is an emphasis on healthy eating with fresh fruit and vegetables available throughout the school day.
  • Outstanding New Facilities for BSW Pupils: The construction project is well underway and will add three interconnecting wings to the current building with a purpose-built Preschool, purpose-built Upper Primary wing and Sports Hall. The exciting project is scheduled to be operational for the start of the 2024/2025 and will cement BSW’s position as the school of choice for internationally-minded families in Warsaw.
  • BSW’s Facebook, Instagram

“Our school is known for its warm welcome, its family atmosphere, its small class sizes and individual attention. It also has a very strong reputation for academic rigour and excellence with a culture of respect, courtesy and good manners. Set on the edge of glorious countryside, yet still in the heart of fashionable Wilanow, the school campus is a modern one with ambitious plans and with the resources and space to grow and develop.

We want all students to become better people, in their learning, in their interaction with others and in their understanding of the world. Through this reflection we call on this community to act to make our school, our locality and the world a better place. Though the website is an excellent window into BSW, nothing can replace a personal visit and please contact us to arrange a tour.”
