About Pines Primary – Pines Forest School

Pines is a British Forest School in Warsaw based on the Scandinavian all-weather school model and pioneered by British OCN trained Forest School practitioners. Pines Primary (accepting children aged 4-10) is located at the Pines Learning HUBs, thirty minutes from the center of Warsaw. Pines Primary offers a core curriculum based on the British and Polish early learning goals, taking the best of Montessori and Forest School, creating a caring and stimulating environment which takes each child’s individual needs into account.

Summer camps with Pines Forest School

  • Pines Forest School offers summer half camps in Powsin/Kabaty Forest, as well as overnight full camps in their Learning HUB located forty minutes from the center of Warsaw.

Pines Primary – educational offer and curriculum

  • Pines Primary offers a core curriculum which is based on the EYFS, British early learning goals and Polish early learning goals (grade 1 and grade 2). This allows their students to transition into an international/Polish school in the future if required.
  • Delivered in an inclusive, safe and stimulating environment. Children learn in a manner which is cohesive with their individual needs and learning styles. Tailored around their interests.
  • Pines Primary day runs from 9 am – 4 pm. Children do not have to attend everyday/all day.
  • Core curriculum (you will find Pines Primary detailed curriculum here) includes Literacy, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, Woodwork, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE), Re + Cultural Studies, Computing.
  • All year round, ongoing projects:
    • Music. Create an EP of original songs. Practice, create the album art, record and edit. The children are part of each project. Finishing the year with a cd/mp3 of the EP.
    • Photography. Learn the basics of how to use a variety of cameras, edit and touch up. The children finish the year with a book/collection of everyone’s work. They also visit some photography museums, use film cameras, make collages etc.
    • Literacy and creative writing. After each holiday/trip/significant break the children document their adventure. Each chapter is written by a child and at the end of the year the book is published. It serves as a travel guide, book of adventures and as a piece of the children’s literacy development evidence.
    • Languages. Children learn a language of their choosing. Spanish/Polish/French/Dutch/Catalonian/Italian/English (delivery language).
    • Robot and mechanics workshops. Learning how to develop, build and control a mechanical robot.
  • Short term projects: Horticulture (planting seasonal herbs, fruits, vegetables ready to harvest later in the year); Cooking (daily activities that children can be involved in as well as specialised cooking workshops with chefs; children use local produce, wild items harvested directly from the forest, Pines own homegrown veggies, fruits, and herbs); Woodwork (learning how to create amazing items from wood; children learn how to use manual and electronic tools, how to properly maintain their items and restore older pieces).
  • Ongoing daily activities: yoga, eurythmics, expressive movement, expressive art and design, graphic design, forest safari, animal tracking, flora & fauna identification, tool usage and maintenance, fire building and fire safety, forest craft, axe throwing, archery.

  • Click here to learn more about Pines Forest School and their educational projects run in Kabaty/Powsin Park in Warsaw. Pines Forest School works with a variety of schools and communities around Warsaw, with children as young as two, right up to fifteen, including home-schooled children. Pines runs weekend sessions in Kabaty every Saturday and Sunday as well as summer and winter camps. All year round you can have a birthday party in the forest with Pines in Kabaty (Powsin Park) or Bielany (Młociński Forest).
