The Museum of Technology in Warsaw has been located in the Palace of Culture and Science building since 1955. The museum was reopened on February 1, 2022, after a 5-year hiatus due to financial problems and a change in the managing institution. The museum is gradually opening up – more permanent exhibitions will be opened in 2022. Two new permanent exhibitions can be visited: “The History of Transport – Sea, Land and Air” and “The History of Computers”.

The transport exhibition presents the development of means of transport – from wheel to plane. The exhibition includes, among others a dozen motorcycles or a Smyk microcar that did not have a door. The exhibition “The History of Computers” shows basic simple tools, such as the abacus, first calculators, but also carousel memory for computers, transistor analog analytical machine, computer transistors, personal computers.

How to get there?

The Museum is located in the center of Warsaw, in the Palace of Culture and Science (Pałac Kultury i Nauki), entrance from Jerozolimskie Street, left section of the building, next to Kinoteka movie theater.

By car: you can leave your car in the paid parking lot surrounding the Palace of Culture and Science. The Parking is available 24 hours a day including weekends and public holidays. There are 4 entrances where you collect a ticket: 3 entrances from Emilii Plater Street and 1 entrance from Marszałkowska Street. When you are ready to leave, before returning to your car, pay the parking fee in one of 8 ticket machines. There are 6 exits (1 toward Marszałkowska Street and 5 toward Emilii Plater Street). Parking fees: 3 PLN up to 15 minutes, 6 PLN per hour. More in English about the parking lot.
By public transport: metro (M1 or M2): Centrum stop or Świętokrzyska stop.

Tickets to the Museum

Regular ticket: 16 PLN.
Reduced ticket: 12 PLN (children and students, seniors 65+).
Family ticket 2+1: 35 PLN (2 adults + 1 child up to 18 years old).
Family ticket 2+2/5: 45 PLN (2 adults + 5 children up to 18 years old).
Free entrance: children up to 7 years old.
Free entrance on Tuesday. Please note that the day of free admission gets the most visitors.

Opening hours

Tuesday – Sunday: 10 am – 8 pm.
The Museum is closed on Mondays.

Where to have lunch or coffee?

Of course, it is the heart of Warsaw and lots of restaurants around. There are also several options in the Palace of Culture and Science building itself:
- Cafe Kulturalna (http://www.kulturalna.pl) restaurant and club is located in the Teatr Dramatyczny (Drama Theatre) foyer, entrance from Marszałkowska Street (left wing of the Palace). It’s a unique opportunity to have a meal (lunch is served from 12 pm, large selection of vegetarian dishes) in one of the rooms of the Palace of Culture.
- Bar Studio (https://www.facebook.com/barstudio.warszawa/) is located in the Teatr Studio foyer, entrance from Marszałkowska Street (right wing of the Palace). It hosts cultural events. The Bar serves breakfast, lunch, drinks.
- Gwiazdy Bliżej Gwiazd – a cafe located on the observation deck of the Palace of Culture and Science, on the 30th floor of the Palace (https://www.facebook.com/gwiazdyblizejgwiazd).

Other relevant information

Important information: the number of visitors is limited to a maximum of 50 people every half hour. The shortest waiting time for entry is in the morning and outside weekends.
Please note that the Museum is not fully open yet – more exhibitions are to be opened in 2022.
Some interactive attractions for children are disabled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
