The Chopin Museum during the coronavirus lockdown – reopening

  • The Museum is re-opened from February 2, 2021
  • Opening hours: Tuesday-Sunday, 11 am – 7 pm
  • Free entrance on Wednesday
  • Online tickets

What is available in English?

  • Most of the website content, including a video presenting the museum: http://chopin.museum/en/information/visitors/id/222
  • The tickets are cards which can be programmed into 8 languages. The exhibition is interactive and with your card, you can activate information in the selected language (it is either written or audio commentary)
  • The museum staff (e.g. in the ticket office) speaks good English

How to get there?

  • The museum is located 250 m from Nowy Świat street
  • By car: On weekdays, the museum area is within paid parking zone. On weekends, visitors can park for free on small streets around the museum. However, it may be difficult to find a free spot
  • By public transport:
    • By bus: 111, 116, 128, 175, 180, 222, 503, E-2 (bus stop: Ordynacka), requires 3-minute walk – about 250 m, Google navigation may be useful
    • By metro: Nowy Świat – Uniwersytet stop (requires 5-minute walk – about 400 m, Google navigation may be useful)

The Museum is closed on:

  • Every Monday

Tickets:

  • Click here to buy tickets online (website in English)
  • The ticket office is in the different location then the museum entrance. The ticket office in downstairs. You pay for your ticket (it is not a regular paper ticket, it is a card), go outside, the entrance is upstairs
  • Regular ticket: 23 PLN
  • Reduced ticket: 14 PLN (students, people over 65)
  • Family ticket (parents with children under 18 years old, max 6 people): 63 PLN
  • Free admission: children up to the age of 7
  • Free admission on Wednesdays

Where to have lunch or coffee?

  • There is a restaurant Tamka 43 – the same entrance as to the museum store (English website: http://www.tamka43.pl/en/). In the menu, you can find some courses inspired by Chopin’s favorite dishes

Other relevant information:

  • There is the museum store where you can buy some souvenirs
  • Behind the museum building, there is a small park with playground (next to Chopin University of Music – you may hear live music and rehearsals)
