St. Nicholas’ Day in Warsaw public transport
Festive Christmas Metro Train: 1 metro train decorated with Christmas ornaments will operate every day until January 6, 2018. On Wednesday, December 6, other public transport vehicles will be decorated too, and there will be free sweets.
Meet Santa – event for children in the Old Town
Location: Old Town Market Place, 12 pm – 7 pm, free entrance. The event runs every day until December 6. Meeting with Santa at Santa’s Cottage, workshops with Elves – making Christmas stocking stuffers, decorating Christmas baubles. Take a photo with Santa in a photo booth. Facebook event in Polish.
Launch of Christmas Lights, Illuminations and Decorations in Warsaw (at about 4 pm, “just after dark”)
Location: 20 km of streets. Castle Square (Plac Zamkowy) – the highest Christmas tree in Poland (27 meters). “The Royal Route” – Castle Square, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Nowy Świat, Trzech Krzyży Square, Aleje Ujazdowskie to Belweder. The Old and New Town – Old Town Market Place, Świętojańska, Piwna, Zapiecek Streets, Nowomiejska Street, the Barbican, Podwale, Freta Street and Mariensztat. Lights on other streets in Warsaw: Mokotowska Street, Bankowy Square, Marszałkowska Street (from Królewska Street to Konstytucji Square), Grzybowski Square, Emilii Plater Street, Świętokrzyska Street (from ONZ Roundabout to Marszałkowska Street), Jerozolimskie Avenue (from Warszawa Centralna Station to Waszyngtona Roundabout and Poniatowskiego Bridge). Saska Kępa and Praga – Francuska, Targowa and Ząbkowska Street, Solidarności Avenue (from Bankowy Square to Wileński Square, including Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge). On December 9, there will be live music and many Santas and elves to meet. The lights will be on until February 2, 2018.

Location: Mińska 65 (Praga). Free entrance, 11 am – 7 pm. 350 Polish brands, slow food court, kids zone. Facebook event in Polish.

“Warsaw, sweets, Christmas cards, and ginger treats” – Christmas outdoor event in the Old Town
Free entrance, 12 pm – 7 pm. Workshops – decorating Christmas gingerbread cookies. Sending Christmas cards presenting Warsaw in a Christmas image (cards and stamps will be available for free, there will be also available a special seal – your postcards can be sent right away) and creating your own postcards. Christmas Breakfast Market in Żoliborz (Indoor)
Location: Nowy Fort (Fort Sokolnickiego), Stefana Czarnieckiego 51 Street, 9 am – 3 pm. During Breakfast Market you can buy local, international, and organic food. Workshops for children. Facebook event in Polish.

Multimedia Fountain Park
Location: Skwer Dywizji 1, Podzamcze (city center), free entrance. Christmas season: Fifteen-minute light and music shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 4, 5, 6 pm (December 9 – January 28). Christmas Market in the Old Town
Location: Warsaw Old Town, next to the Castle Square and Sigismund’s Column. Open every day (Monday – Thursday and Sunday 11 am – 8 pm, Friday – Saturday 11 am – 9.30 pm), free entrance. The Christmas Market runs until January 7, 2018. Facebook event in Polish and English.
Christmas Outdoor Market – Złote Tarasy
Location: the area between Złote Tarasy shopping mall and Dworzec Centralny (railway station). Open every day 10 am – 9 pm, until December 23. Facebook event in Polish.
Christmas Outdoor Market – Ochota
Location: Plac / Square Narutowicza (Ochota). Open every day 10 am – 6 pm, December 9 – December 23. Facebook event in Polish.

“The Royal Garden of Lights”
Location: Wilanów Palace Garden, Stanisława Kostki Potockiego 10/16 Street. Open every day until February 25, 2018: 4 pm – 9 pm. Monday – Friday, regular tickets 10 PLN, reduced tickets 5 PLN. Saturday – Sunday, regular tickets 20 PLN, reduced tickets 10 PLN. Free admission for children under 7 (every day;) It can be crowded during weekends, buy tickets online to skip the line. The Nutcracker and the Mouse King Ballet

New Year’s Eve / St. Silvestre’s Day (Sylwester)
Start of the carnival season in Poland. People usually go out to parties and balls. At midnight or even before, fireworks shows start, arranged by the city authorities but also outside of apartments, in parks, playgrounds etc. Stores are usually open no longer than 5-6 pm. Very difficult to order a taxi;) In Warsaw, New Year’s Eve party and fireworks will be organized this year at Plac Bankowy (Bankowy Square, Ratusz Arsenał metro station).
